Wilderness Camp
Experience an active holiday in one of the most pristine places in Europe: the Nordic Woods camp near Åsnen National Park in Scandinavia. You can embark on daily expeditions in nature, go on canoe trips on the lake, and explore the surrounding forests. In the evenings, you can cook over a campfire, enjoy cozy nights at the Nordic Woods camp, and spend the night under the stars in a charming tipi tent. Keep reading to discover everything.
Nordic Woods is located on the edge of the wilderness, near Åsnen National Park in southern Sweden. From your tipi, you can enjoy views of the Swedish forests, where you can explore the nature of Sweden by taking a short hike across the road. On the other side, you can gaze out over a vast lake, where you can explore a whole network of lakes and rivers by canoe.
Nordic Woods is located right next to the Åsnen National Park, on the edge of the Swedish Hönshyltefjorden. From here, you can explore the wilderness on foot or from your canoe.
Explore the surrounding lakes and remote islands with our Canadian Long Canoes, which are ready for you at the lake.
Enjoy a warm wood-fired hot tub with a view of the lake and, in the evening, a sparkling starry sky.
You can participate in daily yoga sessions in the large tipi. Later in the evening, it's the perfect place to build a roaring campfire or play a game of Werewolves.
In the middle of the lake, you'll find our large barrel sauna, where you can warm up before jumping into the cool water!
In the living room of Nordic Woods, you can gather together for a drink and marshmallows by the campfire.
It takes some luck, but in a few weeks, you will get to see the Aurora Borealis from the Nordic Woods camp, also known as the Northern Lights. The mesmerizing display of colors visible from Nordic Woods is purple. This is due to the type of atmosphere that the sunlight particles interact with.

Nordic Woods is located directly on the Hönshyltefjorden, an extensive lake system that flows into the Brändeborgsfjorden. At the edge of the Nordic Woods Camp, several Canadian canoes are ready for you to explore the lakes.
You will receive a brief explanation from the Nordic Woods team before getting on the canoe. Life jackets, paddles, and waterproof barrels are included.
In the vicinity of the Nordic Woods camp, there are several hikes of varying difficulty levels. Below you will find an overview of the different hikes.
Trollberget hike (Troll Mountain Hike)
This is the smallest hike and easy to do for all ages. The hike starts from the Nordic Woods grounds and has a distance of 5KM. You can do the Troll Mountain Hike both with and without guidance.
Töftasha Marsh Hike (Hike through marshes)
This hike is at a medium difficulty level and can be done with or without guidance. The hike takes you through the marshy grounds in the vicinity of Åsnen National Park and covers a distance of 10 KM. From the Nordic Woods camp, it's a short drive (10 min.) by car to the start of the hike.
Bjurkårr- Toftåsa Myr Hike (Ancient Forest Hike)
This hike also takes you through Åsnen National Park and is of medium difficulty. In total, you will cover a distance of 15 KM during the hike. You can do this hike independently and it is located about a 10-minute drive from the Nordic Woods grounds.
On the lake at the edge of Norraryds, you will find the Lake Side Sauna. From the shore, you walk along a jetty to this sauna where you can relax perfectly. The sauna offers a sweeping view of the lake.
Also located on the lake's edge is a wood-fired hot tub. Perfect for a wonderfully relaxing evening!
After the sauna or hot tub, feel like taking a refreshing swim? The lake is just a few meters away and has lovely swimming water.
During the week, you can reserve a number of time slots in the sauna and hot tub.
Discover, among other things, how to chop wood effectively and build a campfire during the bushcraft workshops led by our outdoor guides.
During the week, an extensive outdoor BBQ is organized, with the choice of vegetarian, fish & meat options.
You can participate in yoga sessions at unique locations at the camp on four occasions during the week.
Grab a canoe and borrow all the necessary gear (tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag) from us free of charge to spend a night camping in the wilderness outside the Nordic Woods site.

By car
By car, you can travel from the Netherlands to the Norraryds campground (Hönshylte, 360 10 Ryd, Sweden) with included stops in approximately 15 hours. The Nordic Woods camp is easily recognizable by the many tipis.
By flying
If flying is preferred, you can do so via Copenhagen. From the airport, you can take the train to Växjö, and then take the bus to Ryd. You can get off at the Norraryd bus station. From there, it's just a 5-minute walk to the Nordic Woods site.
From 16:00 onwards, you are welcome to check in on the arrival day. We kindly request you not to arrive later than 17:00 so that our guides can welcome you properly. We require a €50 deposit upon check-in. On the last day, you can check out from 08:00 onwards and must be checked out by 09:00 at the latest. The accommodations should be returned in the same condition as upon arrival. You will receive the deposit back once the accommodation has been checked.
