Should I get vaccinated against ticks/TBE?

TBE, a virus that can be transmitted by ticks, occurs in parts of southern Sweden. A TBE vaccination isn’t required for your stay at Nordic Woods. Whether vaccination is recommended for you depends on factors such as how much time you spend outdoors, your age and your health. That’s why you should consult your doctor or a vaccination centre well before departure for personalised advice.

With a standard vaccination schedule, the first two doses are generally given 1 to 3 months apart. According to the Swedish health authorities, protection develops around two weeks after the second dose. Ideally, seek advice a few months before departure.

It’s also important to avoid tick bites as much as possible and check yourself for ticks after spending a day outdoors.

Do mosquitoes bother me?

This depends on the weather. In general, there are few or no mosquitoes inside the tipis. There may be mosquitoes outside in the evening.

We therefore recommend bringing long clothing and, if you like, mosquito repellent. It's not possible to hang a mosquito net inside the tipi.

What travel documents do I need?

For your trip to Sweden, you’ll need a valid ID card or passport. A driving licence isn’t a valid travel document abroad.

We also recommend bringing your travel insurance details.

Afterward, you can sign up at reception for the activities you'd like to join.

You can also sign up at reception throughout your stay. Exact times may vary from week to week, and participation depends on availability. For the included activities, we'll do our best to make sure everyone has the opportunity to take part.

Each tipi can reserve a private 30-minute time slot for the hot tub and sauna at reception every day. The available time slots will be shared with you during your stay.

There are several bike rental options in the surrounding area, including for exploring Åsnen National Park.

Can I spot wildlife at Nordic Woods?

Nordic Woods is surrounded by wildlife, including moose, ospreys, deer and wild boar. These animals don’t normally come onto the grounds, so there’s no need to worry.

If you’re lucky, you might spot a wild moose nearby, especially around sunrise or sunset along the forest edges. The chances aren’t very high, though. If you’d really like to see a moose, we recommend visiting a moose park in the area.

Ospreys are spotted more often and you may see them flying overhead from the campsite or while canoeing, for example. If you see a wild animal, enjoy the sight from a distance and don’t approach it.

Yes, fishing is allowed in the designated areas. You’ll need to bring your own fishing gear. Fishing directly from the campsite isn’t allowed because it’s a swimming area. You’ll also need a fishing permit, which you can buy online.

Can I go wild camping in the area around Nordic Woods?

Nordic Woods does not organise wild camping itself. Want to go wild camping independently during your stay? Bring all the camping gear you need and find an official shelter or suitable campsite. Leave no rubbish or other trace behind, and respect nature and wildlife. You are not allowed to take a Nordic Woods canoe with you when wild camping.

The hot tub is cleaned and refilled with fresh water every day. Since the water returns to nature after use, we don't use chemical cleaning products in it. That's why it's especially important for everyone to shower before use and rinse their swimwear thoroughly before getting into the hot tub.

Children may only use the hot tub and sauna under supervision and together with an adult.

Do I need a car during my stay?

In Sweden, places of interest are often quite far apart. If you want to explore a lot of the surrounding area during your stay, having a car is therefore useful.

Can I charge my electric car at Nordic Woods?

No, there are no charging stations at Nordic Woods itself. The nearest charging point is at the ICA supermarket in Ryd, just a few minutes away by car.

We recommend checking in advance where you can charge along the way and in the surrounding area.
